I may have mentioned once or twice before that Mini #1 is oh so funny and quite smart.
And I may have mentioned once or twice before that he is a VERY picky eater. If the boy could live off of milk, pasta, chocolate chip muffins, vanilla yogurt, and grapes he would.
Last night at dinner, we had a homemade vegetable fried rice. Every night there are unique measures that we go through to try to get Mini #1 to eat his meal. Last night, without any coaxing, he ate some peas and then that was all he wanted to touch.
Three peas and he was finished.
I was explaining that he would like rice, kind of like pasta. Rice and pasta were like cousins and he would like it. We always go for the the "Look! Your little sister is eating her meal," but he never bites.
Then, last night Mr. ML lost his first battle to Mini #1 on pure smarts alone.
Mr.: "Billions of people can't be wrong. Everyone loves rice. Remember on the globe when we were talking about China and the continent of Asia. You know most Asian people eat rice everyday. You will like it."
Mini #1: "I tried the peas and I liked them. I don't want the rice."
Mr.:"Couldn't you just try it. I bet you would like it. Remember, rice and pasta are like cousins."
Mini #1: "No, thanks."
Mr.:"Come on, man, 2 billion Chinese people can't be wrong about rice. Try it and you will like it."
Mini #1: "Um, Dad, we don't live in Chinese."
(roars of laughter from me and copied by Mini #2. A deflated look takes over Mr.)
SCORE 1 for Mini #1 and 0 for Dad.
And no, he never ate his meal and all tactics were halted for the rest of the meal. :)
Have a great day!
PS-Did anyone watch Desperate Housewives last night and catch the "Holy Chaz Bono" line or the "You see, that is why I keep having children to replace the ones that hate me" line? Hilarious!!

ReplyDeleteThat child cracks me up! I SO want to meet him in person. Now my kid would have eaten all the rice and left the peas. Happens every time.

ReplyDeleteSpeaking of lines from DH, my husband has decided to run with the word, "leprechauns". LOL
