Did I Fool You?

The 1st of April. April Fool's Day. Blah. Why on earth is this a "holiday?" I just don't really get the appeal and how it became so wide spread that it is celebrated around the world. I know it isn't an official holiday, but some people think very highly of this day and spend days, weeks, months planning the perfect practical joke. Random Fact: I read that in some countries, the foolishness and jokes are only played until noon and anything after that makes you an April Fool. Feel free to share that around the water cooler today. I don't mean to sound like a total "Scrooge." Is there another term for a grump on this day??? I just wonder how this day became such a COOL thing that everyone had to do it. We have all had to live through the awkward laughs, smiles, good natured "hearty har hars" after someone tells us an "April Fool."
