Rock, Paper, Scissors...

Remember when I told you about the other night when Mr. and I played a rousing game of "rock, paper, scissors" to see who had to get an oh so messy Mini #2 out of the dinner chair after enchiladas?

He lost, but did I feel bad. No.

I get the priviledge of playing that game every day during the week when he is gone, 3 meals a day and somehow I ALWAYS lose and get the "winning" prize.

Seriously, this child makes a huge mess with toast. You name it and she can find a way to smash, smoosh, and DESTROY.

Last night it was bad, it was really bad. I even tried to bribe Mini #1 with some extra television time and some little pieces of heaven, otherwise known as M&M's, but he wasn't falling in to that trap. (I told you he was smart.)

This was the "tidy" princess after said meal served by yours truly. Be happy that you can't see the table and surrounding areas of her chair. There was food in her EARS. Aren't I lucky?

I needed to strip down before I tackled Hurricane Mini #2. (She is pretty darn cute though and clearly full of herself by that big grin when I asked her to smile before getting up.)

Thankfully many of her clothes can be bleached.

As messy as she is, she does LOVE shoes and handbags, so perhaps deep down, way deep down in there she is mine and doesn't truly hate me.

I've got my fingers crossed and will just have to keep smooching those cheeks in the meantime.

Have a great day.

Stand Back...

My computer is making those weird noises again. I know it has to do with the fan in my laptop, but I am hoping that it

A) continues to work
B) does not blow up
C) does not lift off and fly away
D) all of the above

(Definitely choose D).

I have been having "fan error" problems for a while, but fixing it will cost almost as much as a new laptop and that isn't working for me.

Most of the time, I can run the hair dryer to clean the fan out, jumpstart the little fan and workings inside, restart it and she works just fine. (I know this is not the ideal or the classiest way of doing things, but you gotta do what works.)

Every now and then, this morning being one of them, the little laptop lady is quite moody. It took a while to get her to start up this morning; perhaps "she" is having one of "those mornings" too.

Mini #1 just asked me "Mom, what is wrong with the computer?"

He's a smart little boy, so I think I am going to step away and let the little laptop lady take a nap and hopefully wake up in a better, much quieter mood.

Fingers crossed, please. Happy Tuesday!

Thoughts

I love my life.

I love the minis. They truly make my life better and amaze me each day.

Although at some point every day, I stop for a half-second and think "How did my life get to this point?"

It may be while cleaning up endless toys, tripping over a train, wiping bums, singing silly songs for the 4532 time that day.

I hear what some friends may be doing and let's just say that some days it is exactly a 180 degree different than what my day might entail. Not bad, just different.

I was thinking earlier about some of things I have said to the minis over the past 48 hours. Lines, thoughts, reprimands, suggestions, and ideas that I never thought I would say or dare have to repeat in my life.

For example:

"We do not play in the toilet."

"You cannot eat icing for dinner. Sugar is in fact not healthy."

"Toothpaste is for cleaning our teeth, not making a sculpture on the bathroom counter. You know that and now you get to help clean it up."

"That is the most beautiful octopus dinosaur train painting I have ever seen."

"Mommy's razor is not a shower toy. Please put it down now."

"Dirt doesn't belong in our mouth. It's dirty. Yuck."

A few minutes later "DIRT DOES NOT BELONG IN OUR MOUTH. NO! NO! NO!"

"No! Enchiladas don't belong in your hair. Try your mouth. You eat them, not play dress up." **
"How many times do I have to remind you that you must wipe your bum or ask for help after you poop?"

"I don't think it is a good idea to hang from the railing. Mommy is pretty sure that you aren't a monkey. Don't do it."

"If I break my neck on these cars on the floor they are getting taken away for good and you will be so sad." (Great line I know...I bet he sure was scared.)

Ahhh, my life as a mother. Always something to reflect on.

**You should have seen Mini #2 after the homemade enchilada dinner. I think we took pictures. No joke, Mr. and I played "Rock. Paper. Scissors." to see who had to get her out of the chair and take place of the disaster that she was. He lost. :)

Hope you had a great weekend. Happy Monday!

Just Give Me a Fluffy Tail...

And some whiskers and two long ears and call me the Easter Bunny.

Want to know what I spent 3 hours doing last night?

Stuffing 427 (no exaggeration and who's counting) little plastic eggs with trinkets and candy for our church's Easter Egg Hunt and Festival on Sunday.

Did you catch that 3 hours and 427 eggs? I told you I lived a glamorous life spending my evening doing such exciting things.

I would be perfectly happy to never see any more plastic eggs again, but since my children are still very little, we have 3 more egg hunts before Easter this year, I'll probably be asked to stuff eggs again next year for church, and since we have daily egg hunts around the house (Mini#1's new obsession...he better kick bum in the friendliest way possible at those egg hunts with all this practice) it looks like my perfect happiness is far from reality.

How many other cool people do you know could cut themselves on the finger with a plastic egg?

Aren't you thrilled to know me? Yes, yes I did do that. Sometimes those little suckers are tough to crack open. I used my massive strength to open one and crushed it, therefore cracking plastic and cutting my poor finger. Let that be an Easter safety lesson for us all.

Happy a great weekend!

OCD takeover

I am pretty sure that OCD may have taken over my 4 year old.

Yesterday morning, Mini #1 looks away from his breakfast by the window where the sun is beaming in and you can see those evil dust flecks floating around mocking us.

Mini #1 says "Mom, I hate dust."

I reply that yes, I indeed do as well.

A few minutes later he says again "This dust is making our house dirty. I really hate dust."

This boy gets me. I knew there was a reason or two why I loved him sooooo much.

Later in the afternoon, he is playing in his room where the sun has now shifted and is beaming through his bedroom dormer.

Mini #1: (yells downstairs) "Mom, I can't play like this."

Me: What's wrong?

Mini #1: "The dust is in my room now. I can see it. (then in a song) Dust, dust go away. You're making our house dirty."

Perhaps there is a Mommy and Me therapy session that we can go to together to work through our dust rage.

Dust, WE WILL WIN SOMEDAY! You may win a battle or two, but the war is mine (and now Mini #1's.)

Have a great day.

**I would like to point out that in case there are any new readers or people that skim over my OCD tendancies, I dust daily and can't stand it. You know the

Oh, Little Blue Engine

That little blue engine from the classic The Little Engine that Could pops in to my head quite frequently.

Mini #1 loves this story, you know the whole train obsession thing and we probably have about 5 various copies in our home. Mini #2 can even say Little Blue Engine's class line when I am reading.

You all know the drill: "I think I can. I think I can. I think I can. I think I can. I think I can. I think I can. I think I can. I think I can. I think I can."

There are so many things that I think I can do or I need that extra little boost of encouragement from the train engine and passengers.

I think I can be nice to people even though they are blatantly rude and WRONG. I think I can resist the urge to climb through the computer and strangle them.

I think I can remember the saying "kill 'em with kindness." I think I can smile and say "have a good day" to the obnoxious man with a confederate flag in his yard, no shirt, and always spits off the rail of his trailer as I am delivering his meal for the day.

I think I can resist that chocolate and coffee until next Sunday. How many more days?

I think I can stand to sit and watch Kate Gosselin dance for at least one more week on "Dancing with the Stars."

I think I can remember that tomorrow I can try to be the BEST mom. (I think I can remember to say that tomorrow too.)

I think I can fold one more load of laundry.

I think I can I learn to say "no" when I am asked to do one more thing or at least I think I can go with less sleep because I am not very good at giving the negative answer.

I think I can remember that my children will not be this young forever. I think I can memorize every sill face, their lovely laugh, and their sweet hugs and kisses.

I think I can try to carve time out for me to do little things for myself like read a book. (gasp!)

I think I can make it through the teen years with my children. Although days like yesterday where 4 year old attitude was worse than 14 year olds, I'm not so sure.

I think I can...oh trust me, the list could go on and on.

What do you think you can do?

Happy Wednesday. Have a great day.

Dancing the Free Love

First of all, we need to get to the most important part of the day. You know my love affair with Starbucks and last week I expressed my newest love addiction in their vanilla bean mini scones . I brought Mini #2 down with me. Now I can bring you all down with me too.

TODAY until 10:30 am, you can get FREE PASTRY of choice when you purchase a drink. This is sure to get your day started off right. I am so sad that I cannot partake in this. Between getting Mini #1 to school and my Meals on Wheels route, I can't get there before they cut the goodness off for the day. I haven't broken the news to Mini #2 yet...she may not forgive me. Click here to print the coupon and get going to your nearest barista and think of me with any one of their fabulous yummies.

Moving on...who caught Dancing with the Stars last night? Another one of my love affairs. I am just not sure about this season and am still trying to put together my thoughts on it. This season is quite the Motley Crew, much more than usual.

I mean Kate Gosselin (think she needs to head on back to her brood of minis, but love me some Tony), Evan Lysacek (dancing on the ice), Erin Andrews (she is just so darn cute and quite a pair for the yummy Maksim), Jake the Bachelor (I just don't get it), Buzz Aldrin (adorable & brave old man), Chad Ochocinco (made up his own name...interesting?!?!?), Niecy Nash (oh so funny), Pam Anderson (ewww, but I so wish I had her legs), Shannen Doherty (dry up the tears, honey), Nicole Scherzinger (love her partner), and Aidan Turner (yum-o and funny).

Of course, in my head I could so totally do all of those dances, look fabulous in those skimpy sequins, and get those perfect 10s while giving some constructive criticism to my fellow stars.

Eventually, I do bounce back to reality and just enjoy watching it on television.

Happy Tuesday. Have a great day.
